Learn MoreSalt of the Earth started in 1992 as an outreach to teens on the streets of Everett. Sandra Richards partnered with a remarkable 83-year-old woman named Mildred Yager. It started with 5 youth and a bag of sack lunches.
Word spread. By the time it was 35 youth, Sandra was making hot meals. She reached out to local grocery stores โ and they said yes. Before long, she was feeding teens and adults, picking up food 365 days a year.
Then God sent others. Volunteers arrived. More sites opened. A van was donated. Today, Salt of the Earth operates 5 thriving food blessing locations โ powered entirely by volunteers and compassion.
Dedicated to God's promise of giving food to the hungry while creating community through compassionate service.
A new central warehouse will allow us to dramatically expand โ reaching more families and reducing food waste across Snohomish County.

At the heart of our food ministry is a commitment to serve with love, grace, dignity, and purpose. As a faith-based organization, these values guide everything we do:
We honor the resources God has entrusted to us: time, food, finances, and relationships โ used with integrity, transparency, and purpose.
Every person is made in the image of God and deserving of love, dignity, compassion, and kindness.
We do more than provide food โ we uplift hearts. Every box, every prayer, and every encounter is a reminder that all are seen and not alone.
We believe in the power of connection. By partnering with neighbors, local churches, volunteers, businesses, and organizations, we build a stronger, more caring community together.
We serve with joyful hearts, following Christ's example in caring for others with humility and love, meeting both physical and spiritual needs.
Questions about receiving food, donating, volunteering, or our warehouse expansion? We'd love to hear from you.
